This features the basic process of importing and editing audio before exporting it correctly to have an audio file.

1234 and metronome  First, turn off the ‘1234’ and metronome buttons.

Create audio track

Select audio and press the + button to add new audio tracks. You can adjust how many you want to create at one time by changing the number in the box.

Track

Press the R button on the track that you want to record on specifically. This ensures that when recording, it only records on that selected track.

After recording the audio or importing the audio file, top and tail it to get a clean recording.

With this assignment, we are making the recording sound like it is coming from a radio. To do this, ensuring that the correct track is selected, open the equaliser panel and remove some of both the higher and lower frequencies to make a boxier and thinner sound. Also increase some middle frequencies.

Another way is to, by hovering over the EQ button, there will be a button to open a drop-down of adjustments that you can make. Select the distortion option.

Space Designer

You can also use space designer in the reverb option in the same drop-down, selecting mono->stereo.

Export

To save the recording or your recordings as an audio file, highlight the edited clip(s) before going to file, export and selecting ‘[number] region as audio file’. After confirming, a dialogue box will open and ensure that you export the file(s) as 16 bit and as an AIFF file.
